"Size small life jackets are now in and are being issued at both the Water Reality and Dragon Boats activity areas," says Scott Weaver, from the High Adventure Safety Corps. Those program areas, on Goodrich Lake, already stocked life vests in larger sizes.
The goal of Dragon Boats is to paddle a 100-yard course for time, and Water Reality is is a floating obstacle course in the lake that four-person teams tackle in a timed event.

When the Scouts in Jamboree Troop C217 climbed out of their tents yesterday, they weren't surprised by mountain fog, but they didn't expect to have a prominent guest for breakfast.
2013 National Scout Jamboree chairman Randall Stephenson arrived at 7:30 Tuesday morning to visit with the Scouts from Crossroads of America Council in Indiana. Stephenson said it was the first chance he had to meet with the boys who are benefiting from years of work at the Bechtel Summit Reserve.

“Foxhunting is like orienteering with a radio instead of a compass,” says foxhunting and high altitude ballooning team leader Keith Kaiser (WAØTJT). (By the way, that's a ham radio call sign.)
Foxhunting, an activity hosted by K2BSA, the jamboree's amateur radio call sign. In foxhunting, participants use ham radios with handheld antennas to hunt for small radio transmitters hidden around Summit Center.

The year 1907 has been brought to life at the 2013 National Scout Jamboree, along with Lord Robert Baden-Powell and his original Boy Scouts.
On Brownsea Island — the one on Goodrich Lake, not the one in Britain — all Scouts, Venturers, and visitors to the Summit can experience the very first Scouting activities from more than a century ago. Back on the original Brownsea Island, Baden-Powell started an experiment to teach self-reliance, observation and leadership skills to young men. That experiment eventually became the most successful youth program in the world.
